In June of 2013, 800 or so, of our closest friends joined us to tell SEIU that we weren’t interested in a dues increase, especially an increase that took 1.5% of our base pay. We were limited in time so we needed to get the word out, and get it out fast.
We developed SCRU721 to get the information out to the employees and we were quite surprised to see the overwhelming support of solidarity by employees in all bargaining units, cities and special districts. It was a great turnout, one that SEIU didn’t quite expect.
After that night REAP was hatched and we haven’t, and won’t, let up. We are in this for us! ALL of US!
Before we shut down the SCRU721 site, we wanted to memorialize that period of time in a small book for all to enjoy. Although the links will be deactivated at the end of May, the pages and forums will be available. So enjoy or get upset allover again…
